 VirtuBit appliance
VirtuBit Pro appliance with Virtualization capabilities |
What do I need to use VirtuBit? |
The only requirements are that you must have a reliable broadband connection and a free port on your switch. Because of the amount of data uploaded to
our data repository, we recommend subscribing to a business-grade Internet line with at least 1 mbps upload. VirtuBit runs well on 10/100mbps LANs, but we highly recommend a Gigabit connection
for VirtuBit Pro.
|
What can I backup with VirtuBit? |
VirtuBit can backup any computer running 32-bit or 64-bit versions of: Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 2003 Server, Windows 2003R2 Server,
Windows 2008 Server or Windows 2008 R2 Server.
|
Who monitors my backups? |
The software utilizes an MD5 checksum files at both the appliance and off-site location to verify that the backup files are intact. A scan to verify these files is done automatically
on a daily basis, any errors are immediately reported to PDC via notificaton emails. If the backup itself fails or if the off-site upload fails, we are also notified.
|
Do I have an option to buy the equipment and software outright? |
Unfortunately this is a pure subscripton-based system. The good news is you never need to worry about upgrading backup software, hardware warranty (like tape drives or NAS boxes), or even
IF you backups are working! We take care of all of that.
|
Does PDC need to come on-site? |
We will usually have to come on-site to setup the appliance and take a base (first-time) backup snapshot of your server. Due to the size of this first file, we will usually transport
this snapshot manually to our data repository rather than waiting for an upload.
|
How do you secure my data? |
The first stage backups are done to the appliance on-site at your premises. Uploads from our appliance are AES256 encrypted over randomized TCP ports and no customer has
direct access to the off-site repository.
